I picked up some new fantasy novels today in my fave format… paperback, larger than mass-market.  

Tagline…

Dove into it last night, and I’m enjoying thus far.  The hook for me was at the end of chapter 5 and al of chapter 6.  While many fantasy readers look for the sword and sorcery or the action sequences as a hook, I look for the more social impacts and the worldbuilding.  This starts after the first few action sequences in this novel, but soon enough to keep the interest.
